What is integrative health coaching?
Integrative Health Coaching is a client centered approach that uses evidence-based models for behavioral change. It empowers clients with an increased sense of motivation to achieve their optimal vision of health and well-being. Optimal health is not only about the absence of illness, but about wellness as a whole. The whole person approach examines all areas of your life that can affect your well-being. An Integrative Health Coach will guide you in assessing all these areas and in exploring what changes you may find important in order to feel better mentally and physically. A health coaching partnership is progress-oriented, with the goal of creating sustainable change.
Why would I work with a health coach?
Do you have areas in your life where you feel stuck? It may be your weight, eating/drinking habits, sleep, ways of dealing with stress, spending habits, relationships, parenting skills, job, or cluttered space.
In the same way a coach at the gym shows you how to optimize your exercise routine, an integrative health coach guides you to achieve your optimal well-being. Using motivational interviewing and positive psychology techniques, your health coach helps you reconnect with your strengths and develop a plan to overcome obstacles that have been hindering your progress to your best health. Your coach will support you in reaching the health goals that really matter to you and will help you move past old habits that are not serving your vision of a full life. As you are developing a healthier lifestyle, change can be difficult and having a health coach by your side is empowering.
How does health coaching work?
During the Integrative Health Coaching Process, you are the expert on your life; you know “YOU” more than anyone else.
You, with guidance from your coach, will complete a self-assessment to explore what’s presently happening in your life and what vision of optimal well-being you have for yourself. The coach helps you explore your first area of change and envision how change in this area, even when small, leads to an improved life and well-being. The coach partners with you through each step, supporting you in gaining insights about yourself, your strengths, and your values.
Over the course of the coaching process, you will tackle obstacles that are preventing you from reaching your goals and discover how to overcome them. Your coach will serve as your accountability partner each step of the way. By the end of the coaching relationship, you will be empowered with a strong motivation to constantly keep growing and reach new heights that you never thought were possible.
